Marilyn Manson

Marilyn Manson is a rock band based in Los Angeles, California. Advocates of nonconformity, and often utilising controversial imagery and lyrical content, the band is commonly described as shock rock. It is difficult to categorise the band, as it displays influences from many genres of hard rock, including industrial, heavy metal and glam rock. Each album thus far has had a distinct and individual sound, and the band and frontman endeavour to devise and use a unique image and aesthetic for each album's era . The band was formed in 1989 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida as "Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids". The band's uniquely theatrical performances gathered a local cult following that subsequently developed into a worldwide fanbase.

The Welsh metal-core band Bullet For My Valentine has spent most of the past two years taking over the world with massive U.K., European, U.S. and worldwide tours, sharing the stage with Guns N Roses, Metallica and Iron Maiden, playing the Main Stage at just about every rock festival on the planet, and seeing their 2006 debut album The Poison - an album London's daily The Sun called "One of the finest debut albums in rock history" - sell more than one-million copies worldwide – 350,000 in the U.S. alone – a very rare achievement for an emerging band.

Back home, Bullet For My Valentine has graced the covers of the UK's Kerrang!, Rock Sound, and Metal Hammer. They won Metal Hammer's 2006 “Golden God Award” for Best British Band, and the 2006 Kerrang! Award for “Best UK Single” for their track “Tears Don't Fall.” Here in America, Revolver magazine heralded the band “British Import of the Year,” and The Poison generated the hit singles “Tears Don't Fall” and “All These Things I Hate (Revolve Around Me),” with the video for “All These Things I Hate” going to the 1 spot on MTV2. The band has toured North America three times, and in early 2007, they sold out their first headline trek.

On January 29, 2008, Bullet For My Valentine is set to return with Scream Aim Fire (20-20/Jive/SonyBMG), the band's highly anticipated sophomore release. The 11-track assault was produced by Colin Richardson (Machine Head, Funeral For A Friend) and recorded at Sonic Ranch just outside of El Paso, TX in early 2007, and is, according to front man Matthew “Matt” Tuck, “really melodic heavy metal…catchy, hooky choruses and full-on vocals with the music being very in-your-face and heavy…it's a lot more up-tempo than The Poison, a lot more aggressive.”

Scream Aim Fire, featuring the distinctive and powerful six-string dexterity of Michael “Padge” Padget, the unwavering instrumental groove of bassist Jason “Jay” James and the relentless thundering rhythms of Michael “Moose” Thomas, the musical backbone of Bullet is an intimidating force. With a lifetime of classic metal inspiration behind him, vocalist/guitarist Tuck is a formidable and powerful voice for the ever energetic, young metal generation.

“We have stepped it up a gear,” says the front-man. “This album is chock full of classic Bullet ingredients. Metal riffs, pounding rhythms, shredding solos and great melodies. We took everything that we learnt from ‘The Poison,' and took up tenfold. Better, fresher, harder, sadder and more real.”

Opening with the aural assault of the title track and first single -“Scream Aim Fire” – to the hard-hitting riff slammer of “Waking The Demon,” and the arena-ballad epic “Hearts Burst Into Fire,” this album will definitely catapult Bullet into a world-wide spotlight.

“(The track) ‘Scream Aim Fire' set the benchmark for the rest of the album,” says Tuck. “It was the moment we realized the direction of where we wanted the record to go. Lyrically, it's not a saying that anyone can relate anything else to. It's ours and the meaning is ours alone. Kill or be killed – that's what this game is like. You're either on top of the game, or you are out, and we are very much still in. Our quality of song writing, our structures, our timing – the songs are intense and accessible, whilst still keeping our metal roots.”

Tuck believes that the band's unique accessibility lies in the fact that fans – regardless of age, gender or nationality – can relate to the subjects and issues tackled within their tracks.

“It's important to us that fans can make a connection with our songs,” says the front-man. “For example, ‘Waking The Demon' is about being bullied at school – which is something that me and most of the boys went though. The track is about one day, just turning round, and deciding to not take it anymore. I'd hope that our fans can relate to that.”

And despite the fact that these four musicians are now considered prominent players in the UK/European metal world, as well as serious up-and-comers here in the U.S. – the lads remain grounded (all still living in their native Welsh homeland) – and eternally grateful for the position that they now find themselves in.

“If it wasn't for the fans, we would never even have been able to make this second album,” says Tuck. “We are so thankful to them, and we will always try to deliver the goods. I know we had to cancel a load of shows last year (Tuck was hospitalized in the winter of 2006 and forced to undergo surgery on his tonsils), but it hurt us so much to do so. We really hated to let anyone down, but it was an unavoidable evil, and now I am confident that this record – and this band – are stronger than ever.”

To support the release of Scream Aim Fire, Bullet for My Valentine will set off on what will be more than two years of solid, worldwide touring, starting in the UK and Europe in January, 2008, and then coming to America beginning in late February.

“We are still so hungry for this,” states Tuck. “We are motivated and ambitious. We know where we want to be. We have played with legends and if we get to that level, it would be amazing. But you know what? If it ended tomorrow, we would still be happy. We are amazingly proud of what we have achieved and what we have done. We are having the time of our lives. The world is our oyster…”

2005 has been the year of Bullet For My Valentine. In the past twelve months, the Welsh four piece have exploded into worldwide prominence. Combining darkly crooned rock with earth shattering metal execution, the arena sized sound has taken over, radio, TV and live performances. Releasing their debut full-length “The Poison” in the UK, the album immediately shot to number one at rock radio. Known for their live vigor the group sold out a headlining tour through the UK, as well as high profile tours through Japan and a recent U.S. debut opening for Trustkill Records label-mates, It Dies Today.

Speaking on their recent streak of success, Matt Tuck, lithe and intense eyed vocalist and guitarist, is more matter of fact than arrogant when he says: “What separates us from most other bands is keeping our metal roots; keeping all of the aggressiveness and brutality that we’ve grown up on, but at the same time writing good songs.” Then his tongue slips firmly into his cheek as he adds: And when you put it all together in one good looking, young, 21st Century rock band, you can’t fail!”

To give you an idea of the band’s standing in their homeland, the group is currently gearing up for a headlining spot on an upcoming Kerrang Magazine sponsored tour with Hawthorne Heights supporting them! Of couse all of this momentum is not gathered without hard work and working so hard comes with a price. 24 hours before turning in a foundation rattling gig at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods, Tuck had been hospitalized for exhaustion.

“We’d just been doing too much”, says Matt. “My body just said ‘No more’ and packed in.” But the same protestant work ethic has taken its toll on the rest of the band as well. During a hectic and insanely well received tour of Japan, affable drummer, Michael ‘Moose’ Thomas contracted a potentially fatal strain of flu! “It was horrible”, says Moose “I was on a drip for a fortnight. I reckon I picked it up in those caves.”

“Those caves” were the Postojna Caves in Slovenia where they filmed the epic video to their last top 40 single “Suffocating Under The Words Of Sorrow (What Can I Do).” “It was the most heavy metal place you can imagine, underground with all these stalactites. But I thought they were going to snap off and spear me while I was playing”, adds the drummer. “It had Enter Traveller In To This Immensity carved in big letters in Latin over the entrance, it was mad”, adds laidback guitar man Michael ‘Padge’ Padget. While in the U.S. in November the band found time to film a video for the song “All These Things” from the Poison album. Look for the video on these shores in early 06.

The band composed of Tuck, Michael 'Padge' Padget (guitar), Michael 'Moose' Thomas (drums) or Jason 'Jay' James (bass) are childhood mates from the area of Bridgeend. This small area has also been home turf for such artists as LostProphets and Funeral For A Friend. Growing up on a steady diet of Metallica, Iron Maiden, Machine Head and rock like Guns N Roses the friends without James started a group in their pre-teen years called Jeff Killed John. That band struggled through musical growth and the hiccups that go along with starting a musical career for close to seven years. In that time the band played shitty gigs, pay for play affairs with little or no local support and sleeping in vans and floors. A little over two years ago, that group was about to enter the recording studio, when their bassist walked out on them. Rather than contuining on, the members recruited James and started a new band as Bullet For My Valentine, re-working their sound and musical ideas into a new beast. This group was signed at their second gig and quickly steam-rolled through the musical landscape.

Recently scoring covers for Metal Hammer and Kerrang in their homeland and upcoming profiles in Revolver, Penthouse Magazine and beyond. The band recently released their self-titled EP in the U.S. on Trustkill Records (it has sold over 20,000 copies so far!). The video for “Hand Of Blood” has just been added to MTV2. The band are prepping the U.S. release of The Poison for Valentine’s Day 2006. Let the massacre begin.

mantan gitaris sekaligus vokalis blink-182, tom delonge, bercerita ttg kontroversi yang baru2 ini menimpa my chemichal romance dan hubungannya dengan "emo" suicides [soalnya baru2 ini ada anak emo yg mati bunuh diri]...

DeLonge bercerita pada BuzzNet bahwa ia dan band terdahulunya pernah memiliki kontroversi serupa. ia berpendapat bahwa tak ada yang salah dengan isi dari lirik MCR.

Tentang Baby Company Blink (atticus macbeth n FSAS)

Kita lupakan saja perselisihan ego Tom, Mark, dan Travis yang hype belakangan ini. Tentu saja di tulisan ini saya tidak akan membicarakan Blink 182, Angels and Airwaves, Transplants, atau Plus 44. Namun, mari kita lihat bagaimana side-projects mereka di luar musik. Di sini saya hanya ingin menceritakan bagaimana kesuksesan yang mereka raih di luar komponen musik. Bisa dibilang kerja keras Mark, Tom, dan Travis terbayar sudah dan mungkin sekarang mereka hanya bisa ongkang-ongkang kaki saja sambil menonton film terbaru daripada sibuk menulis lagu di studio. Kini dengan suksesnya clothing company Atticus, Macbeth, dan Famous Stars and Straps, uang yang mengalir hanya tinggal menunggu waktu saja. Apalagi fenomena hype-nya Atticus, Macbeth, dan Famous Stars and Straps di kalangan youth culture saat ini. Tak pelak pengaruh ketiga clothing company ini melanda sedunia. Dan menjadi salah satu brand cool bagi anak muda saat ini. Terutama yang true dengan skate dan musik punk dsb.

Mungkin tidak menyangka jikalau pada awalnya kesuksesan trio ini lebih dari sekedar menunggu uang royalti dari band. Namun, seiring dengan pamor Blink 182 yang kian menggila dan image mereka sebagai salah satu band pop-punk yang paling berpengaruh di kalangan youth culture, Tom Delonge dan Mark Hoppus membuat sebuah brand yang dikenal dengan nama Atticus pada tahun 2001. Selain Unicorn dan Alien, Tom dan Mark selalu menggambar sisi imajinasi mereka terhadap apapun. Kali ini clothing company Atticus mereka simbolkan dengan sebuah burung mati yang terinspirasi dari novel “To Kill A Mocking Bird” karya Harper Lee. Dan nama Atticus diambil dari sebuah tokoh bernama Atticus Finch yang dikenal sebagai salah satu pahlawan sepanjang masa oleh American Film Institute. Sedangkan Macbeth yang terkenal dengan brand sepatunya seperti Elliot, London, dll. diambil dari simbol Griffon atau Singa bersayap. Tampaknya Tom dan Mark tak pernah melepaskan image hewan/makhluk imajinasi pada setiap hal yang dilakukannya. Sebagai informasi, Tom sangat terobsesi dengan alien dan Mark sangat terobsesi dengan kuda Unicorn.

Mungkin banyak yang menyangka bahwa Atticus adalah milik Tom dan Mark saja. Padahal founder dari Atticus ini terdiri dari empat orang yaitu Tom, Mark dan kedua temannya, Dylan Carlson dan Jon Humphrey. Sedangkan founder dari Macbeth Clothing Company adalah Tom dan Mark, dan salah satunya dari band-band seperti Taking Back Sunday dan Alkaline Trio. Kalau Atticus lebih mengkhususkan pada produk pakaian sedangkan Macbeth lebih mengkhususkan pada produk sepatu. Inspirasinya bermula ketika Tom tidak puas dengan sepatu-sepatu pada masa itu karena kurang enak dipakai buat musisi karena mungkin pada masanya banyak sepatu yang lebih konsen ke olahraga/ atlit daripada musisi. Dengan ide awal menggabungkan konsep sepatu dan musik, Tom dibantu oloh Jon Humphrey, suatu penyelenggara konser dan dan wakil presiden produk sepatu Adio mengembangkan Macbeth ini.
Pada awalnya Atticus dan Macbeth hanya memperkerjakan 30 orang dan kebanyakan adalah sanak famili atau teman dekat. Dan kebanyakan adalah orang yang berkecimpung dan through di bidang musik.Atticus dan Macbeth dikembangkan secara independen. Nampaknya nggak beda jauh dengan cara yang dikembangkan oleh beberapa clothing lokal kita. Independensinya adalah mereka memproduk dan memasarkan sendiri produk buatan mereka. Pada awalnya pun produk mereka ini hanya disebarkan di seputar pantai di San Diego, California, selain memasarkan lewat cara net market melalui situs loserkids.com dan myspace dengan tagline, “Our online store is better than your online store.” Apalagi mereka sempat pesimis karena mereka percaya bahwa clothing mereka takkan bisa mengalahkan Rockawear milik Jay Z. “If you can draw any comparison, we would be closer to Rockawear, Jay-Z's hip-hop-inspired clothing brand,” tutur Jon Humphrey yang juga menjabat CEO dari Atticus dan Macbeth. Dalam dunia fashion, trend hip-hop selalu dianggap lebih cool dan mewah dibandingkan produk fashion lainnya. Apalagi pada saat itu brand clothing seperti Volcom, DC Shoes, dan Converse yang menguasai brand fashion anak muda tengah digemari. Pada saat itu persaingan dunia fashion anak muda tengah gila-gilanya. Tanpa menyampingkan kebesaran Blink 182, Atticus dan Macbeth saat itu hanya dianggap sebuah clothing company kecil. Jon Humphrey menambahkan, “It's a small and independent operation, not a “J.Lo brand,” which is owned by a much bigger company.”
Mereka sadar bahwa kerja keras yang mereka butuhkan adalah bagaimana untuk menciptakan sesuatu yang kreatif. Selain berjualan hal-hal clothing standar seperti T- shirt, topi, jaket, dll., Atticus juga membuat sebuah CD kompilasi “Dragging The Lake” yang berisikan band-band rock masa kini seperti Blink 182, Alkaline Trio, New Found Glory, Sugarcult, Fall Out Boy dll. Yang hingga tahun 2006 telah merilis empat kompilasi “Dragging The Lake”. Dengan mensinergikan antara fashion dan musik, Atticus dan Macbeth meraih pasar anak muda salah satunya dengan mengendorse band-band rock kekinian dengan genre punk/ pop punk/ emo/ hardcore/ post-hardcore seperti Alkaline Trio, Angels and Airwaves, Alexis On Fire, Mae, Bane dll. Selain mengendorse band, Atticus juga tampaknya tertarik dengan segala hal kultur anak muda. Brian Ewing yang merupakan seorang designer dan illustrator pun diendorse oleh Atticus.
Salah satu contoh sinergi dengan musik, mungkin kalau Kamu membeli sepatu Macbeth maka di dalam lapisan solnya terdapat salah satu lirik yang diambil dari band-band yang diendorse Macbeth. Selain musik, ada juga misi sosial dalam karakter design sepatunya. Ingat sepatu Macbeth Vegan yang terbuat dari bahan-bahan 100% non hewani/ animal products. Di mana Macbeth memiliki misi untuk menghapuskan kekerasan pada binatang. Dan bahan-bahanya adalah hasil impor dari PETA (People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals), sebuah organisasi anti kekerasan pada binatang.
Okey mari kita beralih pada salah satu dari ketiga power dari Blink 182 yang memegang posisi drummer, Travis Barker. Mengingat Travis pasti Kamu akan tertuju dengan huruf “F” besar yang senantiasa dipakainya ketika menggebuk drum dengan kedua tangannya yang bak Dr. Octopus. Tanda “F” besar adalah simbolik dari clothing company miliknya, Famous Stars and Straps. Berdiri pada tahun 1999 atau dua tahun lebih awal berkecimpung di dunia clothing dibandingkan Tom dan Mark, Famous Stars and Straps (FSAS) lebih mengkhususkan diri pada street, skate, dan punk style. Dan yang paling terkenal dari salah satu produk FSAS adalah buckles “F” yang senantiasa dipakai oleh Travis tentunya selain menjual T shirt, jaket, topi, sepatu, buckles, bandana, dan skateboard decks. Salah satu ciri dari karakter design dari FSAS adalah bagaimana mempermainkan sebuah catch phrase dengan awalan “F” seperti Family, Famous, "Fast" or "Fun" (as in, "Life Fast, Die Fun"). Salah satu faktor kesuksesan dari ketiga clothing company ini yaitu bagaimana mereka bekerja keras dalam membangun image sebagai sebuah clothing company yang mengarah pada kultur anak muda dan bersinergi antara musik dan fashion. “Inspired by music, made by musicians,” kata Kari DeLonge yang menjabat marketing director di Atticus dan Macbeth yang juga merupakan adik kandung Tom Delonge. Ingat, Atticus dan Macbeth berawal memasarkan produk lewat internet saja. Mereka tak memiliki tempat untuk mengedarkan produknya dengan hanya diawali beredar di seputaran pantai di San Diego, California. Namun kini Atticus, Macbeth, dan FSAS telah meraih pangsa pasar anak muda yang sebegitu besarnya. Bahkan saking suksesnya pernah ada seorang pengusaha yang ingin membeli hak dari Atticus dan Macbeth. “I get calls all the time from big huge massive companies who say, 'I want to buy into this industry.' But you can't just buy into this,” kata Humphrey.
Kerja keras mereka kini terbayar sudah dan tiga clothing company itu telah menjadi “pahlawan” dalam dunia fashion anak muda. Dengan brand fashion yang terkenal Atticus, Macbeth, dan FSAS pun melebarkan sayapnya ke beberapa negara dan salah satunya Indonesia, kecuali FSAS yang belum masuk ke Indonesia. All About Blink n The Genk After Bubarnya !!! Enjoy...

pecahnya band blink 182 membuat kita para blinkers kecewa... betapa nggak, mule taon 1992-2005 mereka berkarir dan sudah jadi awesome band punk.. eh ujung2nya bubar... well untungnya para personilnya masih bermusik (mark dan travis di plus 44, sedangkan tom di angels and airwaves).. pecahnya band blink 182 ini sangat disayangkan banget.. beberapa sebab yang membuat band ini bubar.. berikut ini saya coba menjelaskan bubarnya band ini tanpa memihak siapa yg salah.. coz para blinkers mungkin ngefans salah satu diantaranya.. so saya gak mau kena marah nih karena nulis yg nggak2 hehehehe... ini diambil dari majalah rythm taon 2006 diterjemahkan secara baik dan benar sesuai vocab saya hehehehehe. ini adalah petikan wawancara sang drummer travis barker.

rhythm : perpecahan di blink 182 pasti membuatmu shock bro, bagaimana setelah lo bergabung di +44 sekarang?

travis: mmh... ceritanya sangat panjang dude, gw akan bercerita dulu bagaimana blink bisa pecah.. saat itu blink telah melakukan tour keliling eropa setelah kita dah pulang kemudian terjadi tsunami dan kita dah berjanji akan tampil menghibur para korban tsunami. pada hari dimana kita akan tampil, manajer memanggil kita (gw dan mark) dan bilang klo tom telah keluar dari band, dia tidak akan tampil di acara ini, dan kita tidak bisa menghubunginya baik lewat telpon ato email... dan pada hari berikutnya hanya gw dan mark yang berlatih di studio tanpa kehadiran tom dan para official serta teman2 disana bisa menerima dan sangat menyukainya dan mereka berkata "ayoh, kita tetap pada music kita dan gak peduli deh apa yang terjadi sekarang so teruskan aja deh hal ini". setelah itu band bentukan tom (angels and airwaves) meluncurkan album.. saya dan mark shock tapi itulah yg terjadi... dan akhirnya kita berdua hanya menghabiskan waktu berdua di studio gw (studio famous) buat nulis lagu. gw menulis cord dan mencoba bermain keyboard, sedang mark bekerja pada drum dan mencari cordnya juga, yah memang hal yang berbeda dan nggak seperti biasanya kita lakukan (tapi tetep gw yang ngedrum sebenarnya hahaha).. so akhirnya kita putuskan ide untuk benar2 punya studio ndiri dan memulai proyek baru so kita membuat studio yang baru dan kita berusaha menyelesaikan rekaman meski pada saat itu hanya 2 orang. mark dan gw jadi produser serta jerry finn jadi executive produser.

naaa.... sedikit petikan wawancara tu bisa menggambarkan awal mula pecahnya band punk kelahiran san diego california ini.. sampai sekarang mark dan tom sama2 tidak ada komunikasi.. ketika tom diwawncarai akhir taon 2007 di KROQ dia menyatakan bahwa dia tidak mau membahas masa lalunya di blink, dia enjoy di AvA.. dia merasa lebih baik disini.. dan dia nggak tau apakah dia bisa balik lagi bersama blink suatu saat.. dia belum memikirkannya.. begitu pula dengan mark di wawancara aldercast 2007.. mark menyatakan bahwa dia nggak percaya bahwa blink telah bubar namun begitulah keadaannya.. mau apalagi katanya... sekarang gw lebih konsen di plus 44 bersama travis daripada memikirkan blink.. kalaupun blink balik lagi saya juga tidak tahu itu kapan dan apakah bisa.... tentang lagu no itsn't (bukan not itsn't boz heheheheh koreksi dikit) memang benar lagu ini ditujukan buat tom kata2nya sangat jelas disini

intinya mark gak rela blink bubar.. lagu ini adalah lagu pertama yg dibuat demo dan diperdengarkan ketika awal website plus44 dilaunch.. formasi awal plus44 adalah 3 orang yaitu mark hoppus (bass), travis barker (drum) dan carol heller (gitar) tapi akhirnya carol memutuskan untuk berhenti karena lebih mementingkan anaknya yg masih kecil.. carol diganti dengan yaitu craig fairbaugh dan shane galagher keduanya dari band mercy killers. keduanya merupakan teman lama mark dan travis bahkan craig juga merupakan gitaris di tour transplants (band project travis)...

sedangkan AVA mempunyai personil sama seperti plus 44 formasi awal yaitu tom de longe (gitar vokal), david kenedy (gitar-dulu adalah gitaris band project nya tom boxcarracer), atom willard (drum-dulu pernah jadi drummer offspring), ryan sinn (bass).. setelah mengeluarkan album pertama ryan sinn keluar dari band digantikan oleh matt watcher dari 30 second to mars.

Skye Leigh Everly Hoppus adalah nama lengkap istri mark hoppus, nah bu skye ini lahir 16 juni 1972. Mark dan Skye nikah pada 2 desember 2000 di Carlsbad, Califórnia (mark mengatakan pada wartawan bahwa mereka menikah pas hari thxgiving hehehehe). merit mereka berlangsung di Hotel sesion four dan berlangsung hanya 15 menit (weww..) disana yg ada cuma musik jazz dan makanan jepang sushi. orang yg melihata menatakan bahwa mark mengenakan pakaian tenis :P... (weh mr. mark lagi ketularan donk2 kali yah hak hak.. )
pak mark dan bu skye ketemu saat pembuatan video all the small things, saat mark menayakan sama skye untuk berkencan, skyenya malah berkata "aku gak pengin pergi dengan seorang bintang" dan mark cuma menyimpan nomor hpnya dan jika skye mau kencan dengannya maka mark akan menghubunginya, dan skye pun setuju.

masih membicarakan keluarga mark nih... ada Jack hoppus yg merupakan anak mark dengan skye dia lair 05 agustus 2002. naaa sejak dini dia sudah boleh ngikuti bapaknya alias nonton konser blink mpek sekarang pun dia selalu nonton kemanapun bapaknya konser bersama plus 44. jack ini pernah dapet hadiah mahal saat ultah ke 2, yaitu sebuah tv plasma 42 inchi hwhohohohohoho... enak yah jadi jack. oya jack juga model pakaian anak2 di distro mamanya.. pakaian yang paling disukai jack adalah t-shirt bertuliskan "my dad is my hero"
